About the artist

Iconographer Valentina Ovsyannikova comes from a family of priests from the Ryazan region. She was born on September 21, 1980, in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. She holds a higher education degree in philology and translation (English, French). Since 2009, she has been living and working in France, and since 2021, she has been teaching at the Sunday school of Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Nice.

 

Valentina began her artistic journey in 2017 with the blessing of the rector of Saint Nicholas Cathedral, Archpriest Andreï  Eliseev. From 2018 to 2022, she studied at the Sophia School of Iconography in Moscow. All at the same time, starting in 2020, she studied iconographic drawing with iconographer Viktor Truskalov, under whose guidance she has been working since 2022.

 

In her works, Valentina pays special attention to the order and harmony of the iconographic structure, as well as to the beauty of simple forms, their diversity and unity, to achieve expressiveness and balance in the image.
